Disappointing. The author rushes the reader with a rhetorically fast shuffle into the merits of options trading, describing it as virtually risk free - an assertion with which I disagree, unless you're prepared to burn through the costs of premiums doing trial and error trades and consider that no big deal. Throughout the book, the author advertises his online classes for further content ("at a massive discount") which, for me, is a red flag. Stylistically, the book was not an enjoyable read. Sentences and short paragraphs are printed as standalone phrases for pages at a time, making for an artificially accelerated pace of read with poor conceptual linkage. The author disparages industry jargon and then proceeds to use it a great deal throughout, including a heavy reliance on acronyms. Many of the charts are difficult to read due to smallness of font. The tone is breezy and seems like a 'get rich quick' type of book, dabbling with a bit of new age pseudo-psychology. I would not recommend. So, I assume most of you who are reading this review are like me - meaning I am not a "professional" trader by training i.e. I did not study it in school, I never worked on a trading desk for a bank or a broker dealer or a hedge fund, or on the floor of an exchange. I didn't go to the right school and I never had any connections. Thus I have had to learn to trade through the old fashioned school of hard knocks over the past 20 years - simply by doing (making mistakes) learning and reading endless books, stuff online, etc. I equate it to anyone, again like me; who has learned to play golf as an adult. Never had a lesson, or grew up playing - so I have just swung the club a million times and read endless books or watched videos. None of which works - you just have to figure it out on your own through endless mistakes. Well, where I am going with this is once in a blue moon - once maybe in your lifetime if your lucky- does somebody actually come around and say, I will help you. I will tell you what you need to know, because the 10 million other things you have been trying are just plain wrong. Well folks - The TAO of Trading by Simon Ree is Just that book! Of course that begs the question why would anyone share this knowledge? Well, I honestly don't know; but Simon Ree has indeed done that. So why not just accept that he has done something amazing to help others and BUY it and READ IT! I cannot say anything else . I am sure you have all read the other endless books on finance/investing/trading as I have - some interview styles with legends like the Market wizard series - or some fun fiction/non fiction like Liars Poker or Reminiscenses, or the hideous textbooks with awful titles like How to trade fixed income, or Options Theory etc etc with endless pages of calculus and theory - which are all completely and utterly useless for practical trading. I threw them all in the trash with my mechanical engineering textbooks from college (which are even more useless). Do you really think those who trade on Wall Street for a living (and majored in Liberal Arts from some preppy school) have any idea at all how to do math beyond a 5th grade level? The answer is they do not - they were taught how to trade on the job, period. Or they trade on inside information - which we have learned over the years is much more common than we thought. How does one just simply make billions of dollars? well, they are in jail now, or at least they should be.For some reason, Wall Street in all its forms (and I have plenty of friends who work there) has a motto like Fight Club. Rule #1, never ever talk about what you actually do on Wall Street. Because why would they ever want to share how to make money? That's money out of their pockets. Yes, some computer math geniuses from MIT figure it out on their own and open hedge funds (one in a billion types) - but I'm no genius and I'm betting you are not either. But Simon Ree has decided to break the Omerta of Wall Street and just come out and tell you what you NEED to KNOW! I pray for his sake that the Wall Street gods don't strike him down for sharing this with us civilians. So do yourself a favor and just by The Tao of Trading and read it over and over again. And then, write a review on here and thank Simon Ree personally for his help - that is the very least you can do for him! Endy Stordy!
